Wow! Yes, it has happened! I never would have thought that in my lifetime this would happen. I mean a supernova? Stars are billions of years old so I am right to think that seeing a supernova in my life time was impossible....but I stand corrected. I waited to put this post up because I wanted to see if the posts that I read were nothing more than mere hoaxes. Turns out that 21 hours after the first post I read, the news, stands true. There has been a supernova. The culprit star ASASSN-15lh is unique in the fact that when it when supernova, it shines 200 times brighter than other supernovae! This is amazing, I bought me a telescope so I could go out and look for it but with my luck, I could not find it! The way the article I read broke the power of this supernova down is as follows. This ASASSN-15lh supernova shines 20 times brighter than 100 billion stars in the Milky Way....yes, 100 BILLION stars. OR you can say the supernova shines brighter than 570 billion of our Suns. That is an immense number to think about. The Journal of Science states that this limits our understanding of the dramatic deaths of stars.
