Saturn, in my opinion, the most breath taking view
anyone will ever lay eyes upon. Today, April 28th, 2013 will be at its closest
point to Earth
Appearing bigger and brighter than before (NASA). On
April 25th, if you were to look out towards the full moon, you would be able to
use the moon as a guide to Saturn which was beginning to become one of the
brightest stars in the sky. This event is called "opposition." NASA
states during this opposition, you can actually see Saturn with any type of
telescope. To the naked eye, Saturn will be as bright as any first magnitude
star in the sky. This is really amazing really because these stars are millions
of miles closer to us than Saturn is. I made this blog post as an extra push to
go out and get that telescope and see one of the most breath taking events in
2013. Great news!! If you cannot see Saturn's beauty tonight do not worry.
Saturn will be as bright in the night sky for weeks to come. Please just take
the time to show everyone, this amazing event. Meanwhile, as we gasp at the
beauty of Saturn through a telescope eyepiece, be on the lookout for NASA's
Cassini spacecraft circling the planet at point blank range and sending back
millions of gigabytes of information and pictures.
