The Space Travel Conflict: How to Terra-form Mars

First let us understand what Terra-forming is; Terra-forming is to transform a planet so that it resembles that of Earth. This is the simplest definition I could come up with. How do plants grow on the Earth? The plants on Earth grow through the following steps: Soil and minerals, molecules in the air that consist of carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and oxygen. They also need sunlight, proper soil temperature, and proper air temperature. We encounter many problems when trying to Terra-form Mars; we also see great potential in the matter as well. The sunlight does reach the surface of Mars with much intensity because it is still relatively close to the Sun. This is very important for Photosynthesis. Another abundant resource needed for plants on Mars is carbon dioxide. Mars' atmosphere is made of 95.32% carbon dioxide. That is how we get our oxygen. There is now H2O on Mars that plants can attain in order to split the molecules from the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. That poses a threat to the Terra-forming plan. To look at the good side of Terra-forming, the concept is amazing. We launch pods on route to Mars that have seeds of the plants in them, maybe plants that can go a while without water and the astronauts can water them as needed. Photosynthesis can take place with the Sun and the Carbon dioxide will be absorbed as the plants grow, which then oxygen will be produced in Mars' atmosphere. The more plants on Mars thrive the more they will start growing and spreading in turn creating more oxygen and filling Mars' thin atmosphere with what we need to survive. Since I mentioned thin atmosphere; honestly I don't think that the oxygen will be able to be contained in the atmosphere. It is probably too thin most of the oxygen will escape the atmosphere out into space. What we can do is, plant a ton of plants everywhere, let them reproduce, and spread across the entire planet. Therefore, making more oxygen percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere than the percentage that escapes from the atmosphere. I think this is possible and there are more ways that can be better or worse. This plan is going to be mostly trial and error for years to come, but I believe it is possible.

This link has information about possible ways to Terra-form Mars and if we will be successful in doing so. It also explains why we chose Mars as our next home. Read the link for more information

I would use this link in a paper for school because it seems pretty resourceful. It gives me a lot of information and I could use this reading to aid me in filling in my paper. Also at the end of the blog are some links where the Author of this blog has gave credit to someone else's people.
